Founded in 1985, Harbor Hair Design was originally known as Kingston Scissors and Sun. In 2002, the salon relocated to its much larger present location. We are now in Bradley Center, across the street from Kingston Lumber, approximately one block west of downtown Kingston, on Highway 104. This is our third location, after a brief amount of time in the downtown area near the ferry dock. We have recently removed our tanning bed in order to make way for our new treatment room where we will soon be providing full-featured skin care (including body and facial waxing) and nail care.

We take great pride in maintaining an extremely professional yet casual atmosphere. We enjoy all facets of hair care including Foil Highlights and Dimensional Color, Corrective Color, Perms, Style-Cuts, Prom and Wedding styles and more. Our hair product lines include Redken, Joico, Matrix and Hempz. Many of these products are available for your personal use at prices that are maintained to be competitive with discount chain stores.

1. Transforming a vision into a desired outcome requires much more than raw artistic ability. The entire staff at Harbor Hair Design frequently attends advanced courses, seminars, and trade shows. The knowledge attained at these events is, in very large part, responsible for our ability to accurately predict the outcomes of our efforts. All of this results in an extremely high level of customer satisfaction.

2. We place great value on the time of others. We fully realize the possible inconveniences our clients could incur if we do not meet our obligation to work within our schedule. For this reason, we do not overbook. It is a very rare instance that one of our clients would be forced to wait an excessive amount of time for the start, or completion, of their scheduled appointment.

3. Our number one responsibility to our clients is to remain in business so that we can continue to fulfill their future needs. To this end, it is imperative that all of our stylists earn a true living wage. Harbor Hair Design does not have any "employees." All of our stylists lease their space, and effectively run their own "business within a business." They earn a large percentage of the fees they charge. Their respectable income is a major factor in a high level of personal job satisfaction. Our clients find our stylists to be happier, and much more pleasant, than the average chain salon employee working for a menial wage in order to feed a large corporation.

4. We will politely refuse to perform any service if we determine that it will result in being detrimental to the health of our client's hair.

5. We are a team, and anything that is good for our team will benefit us as individuals. To this end, we are committed to sharing our knowledge with each other. Clients will often observe our stylists consulting with each other or explaining why they are proceeding with a particular technique. Our stylists all actively promote the professional growth of their coworkers. Overall client satisfaction is our top priority.

Lynn has been a hair stylist since 1973 and a salon owner since 1985. She specializes in Color Correction (including consultations), Foil Highlighting, Dimensional Color and Texture Services, Perms and Style-Cuts.

Sue Newman

Sue received her initial training and several years of experience at the prestigious Gene Juarez Advanced Training Center in Seattle. Sue has been with Lynn at Harbor Hair Design since 1989. She specializes in Precision Style-Cuts and Haircolor (especially foil highlighting).

Kimberly Woodson

Kimberly joined our team in 2003. She has worked in the Seattle and Kingston areas since 1977. She owned and operated her own Salon in downtown Seattle before moving back to her native Kingston area. She specializes in all facets of hair care.

Becky Salazar

Becky joined our team in 2006. She was formally associated with 3rd Dimension Salon at the Albertson’s shopping center in Kingston, where she achieved an extraordinary level of skill and professionalism in 5 short years. Becky loves all facets of hairstyling and color services.

We are currently seeking one additional stylist. The ideal candidate will be a very dedicated, and talented, recent beauty school graduate with 0-2 years of experience. Lynn is seeking to provide the type of mentoring that she was fortunate enough to receive early in her career. This is a very special opportunity.
